Airport paintings

Airports often use colors which appear to be very synthetic because of harsh and artificial lighting.  Synthetic colors may cause travelers to sense an unreal space and an impending change in their environment.  Also, airports are designed to move people at great speeds, which may also cause travelers to sense impending change.  When an airport is deserted late at night, it becomes a still place.  As the people leave the airport and flights decrease in frequency, airports become a space of enormous proportions. When an airport is so still, it becomes a place for contemplation.
