interconnections

Vessels extend our physical ability to broadly travel through space and time, to evolve and grow with each new geography. Vessels need not only be technological but can be reshaped in the form of metaphors to represent how we navigate our lives.

These abstract paintings of containers and ships were inspired by frequent trips to the PNW, Oregon coast, and Blaine WA. I see these paintings as a connected system of travel and movement. The distorted bright colors and shapes of the containers inspired these paintings and distortions as they moved through the water with clouds moving above them. These vessels operated on many different levels throughout of lives. For example, my Grandparents immigrated to the US from war-torn Italy.

Vessels roam, we are no longer at home nor are we currently at our final destination.  This in itself is a representation of our current state of affairs.

Our bodies are our vessels where we wander through this world like the Flâneur.
